~Yun as a performer~

Teaching is an acting profession. of course, most of the time you act as yourself in front of the class. for me, being an actor is so hard..

1 thing is i never can read any scripts, or memorise them
another thing is, it's very very dependent on the situation i'm facing in class, whether the students are spontaneous or not. and most of the time, expect the unexpected! u never know how ur kids at that point in time will come up with watever excuse not to bring their things, not to do work etc etc.. frustrating eh?

let me share some of my experience..

there was this poor lizard which in the wrong time strolled across the sec 1 class i'm teaching.. and the kids are so fascinated by silly lizard and carried it around with a piece of paper and went around scaring the other kids.. grr.. and then the poor girls who were so freaked out just ran round the class.. me, i can't do anything to make them put down the lizard.. until i force them to hand over the lizard i got someone to help me throw the lizard out of the window.. sorry lizzie, i can't let u disturb the poor girls.. and then the whole lesson was disrupted cos i spent around half an hour and the principal even came in to see wat's the din abt.. die liao lah..

next was some sec 3 kids, tore up the magazines and threw the crushed paper all over the classroom, in such precise technique it din hit me but maybe miss me by just a bit. grr.. and when i turned around from writing on the board, the culprits just acted cool.. it really got on my nerves and i kept scolding them, yet they do not behave.. i really felt like throwing the paper back at them.. grr.. in the end, the poor class chairperson had to pick up the big pile of paper balls from the ground to throw it into the already-filled-with-crushed-balls dustbin..

u see, im not a trained performer, how do i deal with these type of things, when they dun even listen to me. and then they feel that they can bully me, cos im just a small fry in school.. yah, a calafe.. im just an unimportant calafe, untrained, "underrespected"..

yes, a teacher is a v important figure in your kid's life.. he/she is stepped, bullied, jeered at and on top of that still need to help your disinterested kid excel in his/her studies.. pls get me trained, get me geared up to face this type of kids soon..
